Breast Cancer Walkathon by Sahayata Charitable Welfare Society held at Sukhna Lake

Chandigarh : As a part of celebrating ‘Pink October’ as the Breast and Cervix Cancer Awareness month, Sahayta Charitable Welfare Society organized a ‘Breast Cancer Walkathon’ at Sukhna Lake in which over 350 women and men from the Tricity took part.  Prof. Vivek Lal, Director, PGIMER Chandigarh was the Chief Guest at the event, while renowned Surgical Oncologist Dr. Arvind Guru was the Guest of Honour.  The theme for Breast Cancer Awareness Month is ‘Hope for Cure -- Breast Self Examination and Early Detection,’ said Ms Renu Saigal, President, Sahayata Charitable Welfare Society. “Together, we can fight cancer,” she said.  Mr Ajay Tuli, Administrator, Sahayta Welfare Charitable Society informed that the walkathon saw the participation of cancer survivors, senior doctors from PGIMER, Chandigarh, and Gov Medical College & Hospital (GMCH-32), students and teachers of schools like St. Kabir, St. Stephen’s, St. Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, Carmel Convent, Vive...

Chandigarh Ophthalmological Society organised Walk for Eyes

    Chandigarh :  On the occasion of World Sight Day (October 13), hundreds of people joined eye specialists from the Tricity for a  unique event - Walk for Eyes. The walk was organized by Chandigarh Ophthalmological Society (COS) and was supported by SENTISS, a pharmaceutical major specializing in ophthalmic products. The theme of World Sight Day 2022 was Love Your Eyes. Starting from the iconic Rock Garden, the walk ended at the Sukhna Lake . Padma Shri Prof Jagat Ram, a renowned eye surgeon and former director of  Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh , was the chief guest. Jimmy Shergill appreciates Karan Gilhotra Foundation & ASR Foundation for genuine work

  Chandigarh : Actor  Jimmy Shergill lauded the social work being carried out by the Karan Gilhotra Foundation (KGF), ASR Foundation, United Sikhs and UT Health Department. He appealed to the people of   Chandigarh   to come forward and get themselves vaccinated, which is the only way to get protection from COVID. He was speaking at a function here today. Health Department UT Chandigarh and KGF in association with ASR Foundation and United Sikhs celebrated completion of 5000 Covid-19 vaccinations at Sukhna Lake vaccination camp. A cake cutting ceremony was kept to mark the occasion, which was attended by UT Adviser, Dharam Pal and actor Jimmy Shergill. Karan Gilhotra, Founder of KGF, said that 5000 vaccinations were completed in a month at the Sukhna Lake vaccination centre and the target now is 10,000 for this month.
